AMI/Snow Day Plan
Grandview C-4 has the opportunity to use our inclement weather days as Alternate Methods of Instruction days or AMI distance learning days. The teachers and all students must take home (or arrange to receive) their district-issued device/charger. Hotspots must be acquired from the school if internet access is not available or unreliable at home. Any district hotspots, devices, and chargers that were borrowed from the school must be brought back upon return. Here are some common questions about AMI learning days:
How many AMI distance learning days can we use? District officials may claim up to 36 calendar hours and the associated attendance during any one school year using our AMI plan.
Teachers/students will follow the expectations outlined previously as well as maintain an asynchronous schedule based on the building/grade level expectations below.
Teachers will work from home on AMI days, or they may choose to come into the classroom if they prefer to use equipment at
school.
On AMI days, teaching will be effectively facilitated, utilizing the distance learning platform (SeeSaw K-5 and Canvas 6-12). An AMI day will include, but not be limited to:
- Completion and submission of lessons and activities
- Independent practice and application of previously taught concepts
- Apps or web-based software to teach/reinforce concepts
- Assigned reading, study, or activity to introduce new concepts
