Keeping Drinking Water Safe
Senate Bill 681 introduced new requirements for our district that included the "Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act." The bill requires school districts to reduce lead in drinking water to lower levels that have been mandated by the State. This means water sources in our buildings will be evaluated and tested throughout the school year. During the summer of 2023, the district already began the process of meeting state requirements through the implementation of the Grandview C-4 Safe Drinking Water Plan.
GC-4 Safe Drinking Water Plan Introduction
The Grandview C-4 School District is committed to providing a safe, healthy learning & work environment for all our students and staff. We recognize the importance of protecting our students and staff from potential lead exposure and are confident the procedures established in this plan will accomplish this goal. This plan is designed to mitigate the exposure of students and staff to lead in drinking water, food preparation, and dishwashing water sources throughout our facilities. This plan was developed in compliance with Missouri Statutes RSMO 160.007 (Get the Lead out of School Act 2022) and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS). The Grandview C-4 School District Facilities Department manages the implementation of this plan.

Remedial Actions by Grandview C-4 School District
The Grandview C-4 School District has taken immediate steps to restrict access to all water sources identified through testing.
- All drinking and cooking sources that exceeded action levels have been turned off until they can be successfully remediated.
- Appropriate signage has been placed on non-drinking water sources that exceeded action levels until they can be successfully remediated.
We evaluate each source for the best remediation option, such as removing or replacing equipment or installing industry-standard filters certified for lead reduction. The district will retest all water sources identified through this process to ensure successful remediation.
