The Grandview C-4 School District is located in the southern areas of Kansas City. We are currently servicing five elementary sites, one K-8 school, one middle school, one high school, an early childhood center along with other vocational, special education, and alternative school sites. Grandview C-4 School District boundaries include most of Grandview, a small portion of western Lee’s Summit and a portion of south Kansas City which includes Martin City.
Bus transportation – the safest form of transportation – is provided for Grandview C4 Schools’ students to and from school based on each school’s transportation zone. Staff at your child’s school can assist you with determining if your child will ride the bus to school or if you live in a non-transportation zone.
The Grandview C-4 School District Transportation Department is a district owned fleet of 42 school buses transporting approximately 2300 students daily and travels all 38 square miles of the district. Our buses travel approximately 525,000 miles per year. Transportation services are provided for all eligible students living more than one mile from their assigned school. The Board of Education in accordance with state regulations requires all employees driving school buses to be trained by certified personnel, be properly licensed, subject to extensive background screening, random drug and alcohol screening, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations mandated for school bus drivers. We employ approximately 43 bus drivers and 15 bus paraprofessionals. We encourage and welcome parents and patrons of our district to seek employment opportunities to operate our school buses. We have found that people with a vested interest in the students and our community have proven to be a great asset to the district as employees.
As required by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, every bus driver attends special school bus training before transporting any of our students. The training consists of a minimum of 30 hours in the classroom and 20 hours behind the wheel. In total, every bus driver – including substitutes – spends at least 3 weeks to one month training to be a school bus driver. The transportation departments training exceeds the state’s minimum requirements.
Parents are encouraged to read the Parent/Student Handbook
as it clearly outlines the conduct for all students while riding a school bus. To ensure the safety of our students, parents should consider sharing “watch” responsibilities with a neighbor so your children have an adult overseeing safety at their bus stops. Parents are encouraged to remind their children of acceptable behavior on a school bus.
