School Improvement Plans (SIPs)

The Board heard the SIP presentation from the principal of the High Grove Early Childhood Center (HGECC). HGECC goals include enhancing the relationships between home and school, student development of capacity to regulate emotional reactions, and student ability to make marks representing their name and particular words.

Annual Performance Review (APR)

Board on information provided by DESE regarding the determination that Algebra I and English II scores across the State will not be used in this year’s Annual Performance Report (APR) calculations due to concerns related to test integrity.  Districts will be held harmless in these areas and will not score fewer points than the previous year in those two areas.  Grandview C4 earned 79.3% of available points, which is an increase from last year.  The district earned 100% of available points for graduation rate.  Individual school's data is not yet available.

Staff Recognitions

Four staff members from three separate schools were recognized for swift actions taken during potentially life-threatening situations for three students during the month of October.  At Butcher-Green Elementary, Paraprofessional Cheryl Doria used the Heimlich maneuver to clear kindergartner’s throat.  Earlier in the month Martin City teacher Daniel Bartholomew used the Heimlich maneuver on a student who was choking during class.  When a GHS student went into cardiac arrest, School Health Coordinator Mary Rhodes and School Resource Officer Brett Myers initiated CPR and utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to deliver a shock until an emergency medical team arrived.  These staff members do not consider themselves heroes, but to the students, their families and the employees of Grandview C4, ‘hero’ is exactly how they should be described.
