Service Recognition

School Resources Officers Beau Bailey and Doug Thacker, who are returning to regular duties with the Grandview PD, were recognized for their contributions to the safety and security of Grandview C4 staff and students over the past several years.  Sharon Kinder, former Executive Director of the Grandview Assistance Program (GAP) was recognized for supporting the partnership between GAP and the school district to assist students’ families.

Student Recognition

On May 1st, GHS seniors were awarded more than $820,000 in scholarships.  The Board of Alderman for the City of Grandview recognized the Grandview High School Band program for the numerous awards received this year.  The Commencement Ceremony was held on May 15, 2017 where 285 students received their high school diplomas.

Grant from Sprint

The district has been awarded the 1Million Project grant from Sprint which will provide at home wireless devices for students who have slow or no internet access.  The district will receive 1500 devices over the course of 5 years.

Sale of Bonds

The Board approved a resolution to proceed with the notice of bond sale for $5,000,000 in General Obligation Bonds to fund projects approved by voters at the April 4, 2017 election.  Several projects, including fire alarm upgrades, roof replacement and parking lot renovations will occur over the summer.

Three Year Budget Forecast

The Board reviewed current year and anticipated revenues and expenses through the 2019-20 school year.  The district will end this year within the targeted goal of 18+/-2% reserves.  It is anticipated that without reallocations the district will fall below the goal to 15.5% in the 2018-19 school year. 

Lease Purchase of New Buses

The Board approved the lease purchase of 13 brand new buses.  The new buses will replace several aging buses and bring the average age of the fleet to just over 8 years.  The new buses will have automatic doors and improved camera systems.

Tuition Rate

The Board established a tuition rate of $11,223.78, which is based on current expenditures for the average daily attendance as submitted to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  The district does not typically enroll tuition students but is required to annually establish a rate.
