Student Recognition

The Board recognized GHS sophomore Chayanne Sandoval-Williams for being selected as a 2017 winner for Aspirations in Computing from the National Center for Women in Information Technology.  Chayanne is the lead programmer of the GHS FIRST Robotics team, assists a smaller team of programmers in learning code and participates on an all-female coding club. After high school Chayanne plans to major in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

Safety and Security Update

Superintendent Rodrequez shared a safety and security update with the Board that included establishment of anonymous avenues for students to report safety concerns, on-going conversations with students, random security scans at GHS and development of a system for information sharing and feedback from students and families.

Official Enrollment Report

Each year the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires all school districts to submit official student enrollment on the last Wednesday in September and January. The official student enrollment count for Grandview C4 on January 25, 2017 was 4196.  This is a decrease of 40 students over the enrollment count reported last January (2016).

Equal Employment Opportunity Report

The Board annually receives an equal employment opportunity report for the previous year. During  the  evaluation  period  from  January 1, 2016 through  December  31, 2016,  the  number  of  Grandview  C-4  certificated  minority  administrators  has increased by one.  The district has 42.86% minority representation in the professional administrative staff and 52.38% of the administrative positions are held by women.  The teaching staff decreased  by one minority during 2016.  The support staff  increased by nine individuals who are minorities in 2016.  The overall minority employment for Grandview C-4 as of December 31, 2016, is 180 individuals compared to 170 in 2015.  The minority representation for all employees is 29.55% which is up by 1.73% from 2015.  In 1989 there were 17 minorities employed in the Grandview C-4 district.

Technology Plan

The 2017 – 2020 Technology Plan was approved by the Board.  The plan identifies five technology focus areas: student learning, teacher preparation, administration, resources and technical support. Related goals and action steps for each focus area are defined in the plan.
