Board Member Appointment

Mr. Chuck Cornforth took the Oath of Office to serve on the Board of Education until the April 5, 2017 election.  Mr. Cornforth is a long time Grandview resident,  a GHS alum and a recent retiree of the district.

A+ Program

The A+ Program annual evaluation was approved by the Board of Education.   Since the district’s A+ program received  designation from the state, participation has increased from 256 students in 2012 to 428 students in 2016.  Eligible A+ graduates have accessed over $100,000 in community benefit funding for their college expenses.

School Improvement Plans

Conn West and Meadowmere principals presented their school improvement plans.  Conn West, which scored in the Performance with Distinction category on the state’s 2016 Annual Performance Report, identified goals focused on increasing achievement in English Language Arts, Math and Science, and enhancing technology usage for instruction.  Meadowmere identified increasing attendance, and improving Math and Science achievement as their primary goals for the year.

No-tax Increase Bond Proposal

The Board approved placing a no-tax increase bond issue of $9,000,000 on the ballot for the April 4, 2017 election.  If approved by the voters, the funds would be used for continued facility improvements including fire safety upgrades, roof replacement or repair, classroom enhancements and continued maintenance of aging facilities.
