Board Vacancy Filled
Kim Graves took the Oath of Office, filling a Board vacancy established in March. Ms. Graves has been a resident of Grandview for over 35 years, has a child attending Grandview schools, and is a GHS graduate. She has a BA in English from William Woods University, an MA in Management from the University of Phoenix, and has been actively involved in school and community organizations.

Student Recognition
The Boy’s Track and Field team was recognized for clinching its 6th state tiel at the 2016 Missouri State Track and Field Championship. The Girl’s team finished strong as well, taking 8th overall at the competition.

Program Evaluation
The Board reviewed and approved the evaluation of the Wellness Program. Each school site has a school health advisory committee, and through a grant with Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, schools have been able to purchase health related items such as activity trackers, physical fitness equipment, water bottle filling stations, and nutrition education materials.

Preliminary Budget
The Board approved a preliminary budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year. The preliminary operating budget is approximately $52,000,000. A final budget will be presented to the Board in the fall.

Centralized Enrollment
As a result of parent and community feedback, the district developed a centralized enrollment process. The Board was updated on the planning for centralized enrollment which will occur this summer on July 26 & 28, and August 1 & 2 at Grandview High School.

Giving the Basics
Giving the Basics is a non-profit organization that provides basic human dignity products that are not covered by government assistance, such as toothpaste, soap and deodorant. The district registered with Giving the Basics this school year. A representative provided an overview of the program and highlighted the benefits of the program for district students.
