New Avid Job Descriptions
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a research-based college and career readiness program that prepares students for rigorous coursework and postsecondary success. The district began implementing AVID this school year at GHS, GMS, and MCK8.
A key component of AVID is the elective course, which provides instruction in organization, study skills, critical thinking, collaboration, and goal-setting.
The AVID Tutorial Facilitator supports high-quality program implementation by providing targeted academic assistance during tutorial sessions. This role strengthens student learning and reinforces essential academic and college- and career-readiness skills across content areas.
Effective implementation requires trained AVID Elective Teachers and an Avid Tutorial Facilitator. The district plans to add an AVID elective teacher and Avid Tutorial Facilitator in the 2026–2027 school year.
