Regular Open Meeting Brief – October 16, 2025
The entire meeting agenda can be viewed at: October 16, 2025 BOE Meeting
School Improvement Plans (SIP)
The Board heard SIP presentations from Grandview High School, Meadowmere Elementary School and High Grove Early Childhood Center. The SIP format includes root cause analyses and 30, 60, and 90-day reviews to determine if adjustments to the plans are needed throughout the year. Goals include increasing reading and math proficiency and creating a culture of belonging in school and work environments. Principals reviewed progress toward meeting established goals and change ideas for continuous improvement.
Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Update
The C&I Department presented beginning of the year (BOY) data from two key reading assessments: Phonological Word Efficiency Reading Screener (PWERS) and the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Assessment. PWERS measures word recognition, decoding and reading efficiency, and helps identify patterns with vowel confusion, consonant blending errors and challenges with irregular words for all students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Heggerty assesses kindergarteners’ and first graders’ ability to hear, identify and manipulate sounds. Results guide early literacy instruction and development of foundational reading skills.
Professional Learning Plan
The Board approved the 2025-26 Professional Learning Plan (PLP). PLP activities are designed to improve student performance by providing high quality adult learning opportunities. Goals include providing numerous professional learning opportunities that align with and support student achievement goals, supporting professional learning opportunities outside of the district, and providing beginning teachers, as well as teachers and staff new to the district, with additional targeted support.
Board of Education Filing for the April 7, 2026 Election
The Board approved a legal notice of the filing dates and times for Board of Education candidates for the April 7, 2026 election. The state sets the dates for filing, which this year are December 9 through December 30, 2025, and the district establishes which days/times the district offices will be open for filing during that period. Visit the district website for more information.
