Regular Open Meeting Brief – August 21, 2025
The entire meeting agenda can be viewed at: August 21, 2025 BOE Meeting
New Staff Academy
During the first week of August, teachers and support staff spend four days learning together, touring the district, and general district orientation. The district places an emphasis on ensuring a sense of belonging and feeling valued. With new staff members, this begins with a summer jump start where they are assigned devices and learn the basics, and continues at the New Staff Academy prior to the first day of the new school year.
Budget Document for 2025-26
A comprehensive budget document is produced and publicized annually to provide a projected financial status of the district. The Budget Document outlines the budget message, fund balances, anticipated revenues and expenses, including detailed reports, debt service, and capital projects, which is reflected in the preliminary budget adopted by the Board of Education at the June 26, 2025, meeting. The document will be posted on the district website under the Finance Department.
Lyrik’s Institution
During the 2025-25 school year, the district began a partnership with Lyrik’s Institution to provide restorative practices at Grandview High School, focusing on Tier II and III interventions for students and families. These interventions included mediation between students/families, particularly after violent encounters in or out of school, behavioral skill building, classroom management, and student/family mentorship and support beyond the school day. Lyrik’s founder and CEO highlighted programming and implementation milestones in the first year of implementation at GHS.
Rose Brooks Center Violence Prevention Partnership
The District has partnered with Rose Brooks Center for more than 30 years to provide students with the skills needed to lead lives free of violence. Through the Project SAFE Program, they provide facilitation of weekly student support groups, age-appropriate emotional management and resiliency skills development and monitoring, and ongoing consultation with teachers and staff. Last year, Rose Brooks counselors assisted 437 students with 711 direct service hours.
Strategic Plan Review
Senior Leadership Team members shared highlights and outcomes of the goals, objections and action steps after the first year of implementation of the District's most recent Strategic Plan, specifically in the four plan Focus Areas: Success Ready Students, Workplace Excellence, Operational Readiness, and Climate & Culture.
