Program Evaluation
Program Evaluations for Migratory and Homeless Students were presented to the Board. Students are identified during the enrollment process as highly mobile as defined by the state (migrant) or for eligibility to receive McKinney Vento (MKV) services due to homelessness. The district served 48 MKV students last year and is currently serving 51 students. No migrant students were identified, as has been the case for several years.
C&I Update
The Curriculum and Instruction Department provided an update on implementation of the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. AVID aims to help students develop essential skills considered crucial for college success. The Board approved the AVID program in May 2024. This year the district established a communication plan for implementation of the AVID program and began work on elective curricula and AVID professional development.
New Marching Band Uniforms
The Board approved the purchase of new uniforms for the marching band. The new design was developed by a team led by the band director and with input from students.
Facilities Upgrades
Contracts to upgrade the High Grove Early Childhood Center bus loop and sidewalk and replacement of HVAC units for Conn-West and Belvidere Elementary Schools were approved.
