She has worked tirelessly through this pandemic to prioritize the health and safety of students and staff. Here's what was written about her in her nomination:
As COVID has continued to surge, Mary Rhodes has single-handedly supported staff and students behind the scenes. Mary already had a full job prior to COVID as the nurse at the high school, as well as supervising and coordinating health services across the district. The pandemic added another layer to her responsibilities as she provides COVID testing for staff and manages all the district paperwork related to contact tracing. As her responsibilities have increased, so have her hours. She works long hours to ensure all of the district's COVID tracing and documentation is current and up to date.
She extends empathy as she calms those scared by their positive results, educates staff on ways to mitigate exposures, and provides a listening ear for others who process anxieties related to the pandemic. All this is done...every single day...with the most positive and caring demeanor. She is truly an exceptional employee!
