New Board of Education Members and Election of Officers
Two new Board members took the oath of office to begin three-year terms: Damon Greene and Don Kessinger. Incumbent Monica Terry began a new three-year term. The Board elected Leonard Greene as President, Monica Terry as Vice President and Chuck Cornforth as Treasurer to serve until April 2021.
Salary Schedule Recommendations
The Board approved the recommendations from Grandview 8 and Grandview 10 for the 2020-21 school year. Teams of representatives from the administration, the Board of Education, support staff (Grandview 8) and teachers (Grandview 10) meet several times throughout the year to develop recommendations related to salaries, benefits, and quality of work-life issues. This collaborative process, which has been in existence in Grandview C4 for decades, ensures representation by employees in problem-solving and reaching consensus agreements.
Employee Insurance
The Board approved recommendations regarding employee insurance. The District Insurance Committee, Grandview 8 and Grandview 10 worked with the CBIZ to negotiate the renewal for medical and dental insurance. The rates and plans for dental, life and long-term disability insurance remain unchanged.
Bond Projects
The Board approved contracts for summer projects at CAIR and Belvidere to replace specific window and door systems, site improvements at Transportation and Meadowmere, and replacements of lifts and stationary ladders at GHS.
Board of Education Meeting Dates 2020-21
Board of Education meeting dates were established for the coming year. Meetings will occur on the third Thursday of every month with three exceptions; the September 2020 and June 2021 meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday and the March 2021 meeting will be held on the second Thursday. A tax hearing will be held in September prior to the regular open meeting and a re-organizational meeting will be held in April 2021 prior to the regular open meeting.
