School Improvement Plans (SIP)

The Board heard SIP presentations from the principals of the Center for Alternative Instructional Resources (CAIR) and Grandview High School (GHS).  SIP goals for CAIR include increasing student academic performance and student engagement.  CAIR programming includes FOCUS, Transitions, Missouri Options and Crossroads.  GHS goals include increasing student achievement in math, science and English language arts, creating a student-centered school climate, and increasing student readiness for college and careers.

A+ Program

Participation in the A+ Program since the program was first offered at GHS in 2012 has increased from 256 students in 2011/12 to 488 students in 2018/19, representing 46% of the total high school population.  A+ students are required to complete 50 hours of peer tutoring/mentoring services. A+ student volunteers have supported numerous school and community events.

Technology Program Evaluation

A twelve member technology team provides technology resources and infrastructure along with professional development to support instructional and administrative systems for all Grandview C4 students and staff.  The student to device ration at all sites across the district is 1:1.

Annual Audit Report

A representative from the auditing firm DSWA presented the audit report for the 2018-19 year showing a clean audit with no material weaknesses or significant findings.  Additionally, DSWA noted that a financial strength of the District is that it is well below the constitutional debt limit.

Trauma Informed Care

Representatives from Cornerstones of Care shared information on social/emotional screenings that took place earlier this semester.  Parents may choose to opt in/out. Forty two percent of third, fourth and fifth grade students across the district were screened.  Thirty eight percent of them screened into at least one elevated or extremely elevated at risk category.  This semester a middle school component was added on a referral basis.  Eighteen middles school students were screened as of October. Cornerstones of Care provides follow-up services for students scoring in elevated risk areas.
