The entire meeting agenda can be viewed at: March 14, 2019 BOE Meeting

Student Highlights

The Board recognized 6th graders who participated in the Prep KC Math Relays, helping Grandview C4 earn the District Champion title at this year’s 5th annual event.  Other student highlights included acknowledgements of the official opening of the FOCUS students’ Amazing Brain Exhibit at Science City, MC Jazz Band first place finishes at 3 festivals and the GHS Boy’s Basketball team advancing to the Final Four of the State Championship tournament.

Program Evaluations

Program Evaluations for Community Education, Title I Early Childhood, and Parents As Teachers (PAT) were presented to the Board.  The Community Education Program offers the Missouri Options Program (MOP) for students under 21 years old who lack the credits needed to graduate or who have dropped out, and Community Academy, which provides lifelong learning programs for adults in areas such as finance, technology and parenting.  The Title I Early Childhood Program served 60 students with one or more areas of delay.  PAT provided family personal visits to 162 children/families as well as screenings for a total of 468 children.

Calendar Revision

As a result of unanticipated snow days, the Board approved revisions to the 2018-19 school calendar, making the last day for students June 4, 2019.  This was accomplished by eliminated the April 19th Spring Holiday, which is now a student attendance day, as well as reducing the number of attendance days to 174.  The district was required to add an additional three days to make up for attendance days lost to inclement weather.

Bond Projects

The Board approved contracts for projects at GHS including renovations to the tennis courts and restroom upgrades which will be completed over the summer break.
