Curriculum and Instruction Update 

Spring 2023 iReady assessment results, which included trend data as well as comparisons with other iReady districts in the state of Missouri and across the country, were presented.  The District data shows increases in the percentage of students performing on grade level in both math and reading over the past four years in grades K-8; and high growth between the fall and spring assessment in math and reading for all grade levels assessed including over 64% of students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.   

Safety Survey 

Over 2000 participants, which included staff, students and parents/guardians, responded to questions about safety in our schools. The survey was used to identify areas of success as well as opportunities for improvement. Results of the spring safety survey were shared with the Board.  The survey indicated that 85% - 94% elementary student respondents “agree” or “strongly agree” to questions around feeling safe at school and 80%- 88% of middle school student respondents feel they are respected at school. 

Community Partnerships

The Board heard presentations from Caring for Kids, ReDiscover, and Cornerstones of Care regarding the services they have provided to the district during this school year.  Each of the organizations plays an important role is assisting with social and emotional supports for students. 

Preliminary Budget 

The Board adopted a preliminary budget for 2023-24 and reviewed projections for the next three fiscal years.  Ending balances are projected to remain above the Board’s targeted goal. 

Prepayment of Bonds 

The Board authorized the redemption of $3,200,00 principal amount of General Obligation Bonds which will result in future interest savings of $1,262,500.
