Reorganizational Meeting
At the reorganizational meeting prior to the regular open meeting, reelected Board members Damon Greene, Monica Terry and Stacy Wright took the oath of office to begin new 3-year terms. Additionally, the Board elected Monica Terry as President, Dawn Foy as Vice President and Joshua Hill as Treasurer to serve until April 2024.
Program Evaluations
The Board approved program evaluations for Gifted/Talented and Title I. The Gifted/Talented program, which served 85 students during the 2033-23 school year, provides students who meet specific criteria with additional support aligned with their academic capabilities. Title I is a federal program that provides funding for districts with large concentrations of lower income students to ensure all students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to reach proficiency on state achievement standards.
Salary Schedule Recommendations
The Board approved the recommendations from Grandview 8 and Grandview 10 for the 2023-24 school year. The recommendations included vertical and horizontal movement on the certificated salary schedule as well as an $675 increase to the base, and vertical movement plus a 5.5% increase to each cell on the classified salary schedule. Teams of representatives from the administration, the Board of Education, support staff (Grandview 8) and teachers (Grandview 10) meet several times throughout the year to develop recommendations related to salaries, benefits and quality of work-life issues. This collaborative process, which has been in existence in Grandview C4 for decades, ensures representation by employees in problem solving and reaching consensus agreements.
Board of Education Meeting Dates 2023-24
Board of Education meetings dates were established for the coming year. Meetings will occur on the third Thursday of every month with two exceptions; the December 2023 meeting wil be held on the second Thursday, and the February 2024 meeting will be held on the fourth Thursday. A tax hearing will be held in September prior to the regular open meeting and a reorganizational meeting will be held in April 2024 prior to the regular open meeting.
