Program Evaluations

Program Evaluations for Library Media, A+ Programming, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming were presented to the Board.  All schools are staffed with full-time certified librarians. STEAM centers and resources have been implemented in district libraries. Participation in the A+ Program has increased since initial participation in 2011-12. Due to the pandemic/distance learning, the State reduced the required number of tutoring hours to 25. The CTE evaluation showed that a strong focus has been placed on real world learning and creating opportunities for attainment of market value assets including internships, career certifications and college prep. Numerous partnerships with organizations like Honeywell, KCSTEM, Prep KC and Kaufman Real World Learning have created these types of opportunities for students and educators at all levels.

iReady Assessments

The iReady assessment provides schools and the district with a detailed analysis of where a student’s level of proficiency is regarding grade level expectations.   The skills analysis provides accompanying plans and materials to facilitate multi-tiered support for struggling students. Results from the iReady Winter Diagnostic showed solid growth in all grade levels in both Math and Reading as compared to the fall assessment.  There is still work to do in moving students out of tiers 2 and 3 and into tier one (grade level proficiency).

Bond Projects

The Board approved renovations to Martin City K-8 including creation of a secure entry and complete remodel of the office area.  After completion this summer, 100% of school sites will have a security vestibule at their entry points.

2021-22 School Calendar

The Board adopted the calendar for 2021-22.  The calendar establishes eight full day non-student attendance days as well as two half days and builds in 36 hours at the end of the school year in the event of inclement weather. Students will attend for 169 days, which assures meeting the minimum hourly requirement for attendance.
