Student Surveys

At Grandview C-4 School District, we are committed to ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. One of the ways we do this is through a tool called Panorama Education.

In accordance with federal and state law, parents/guardians have the right to receive advance notice and choose to opt their student out of certain activities. These include:

  • Surveys that ask about sensitive or protected topics, regardless of who funds the survey.
  • Non-emergency physical exams or health screenings that are required by the school for attendance, scheduled by the school in advance, and not needed to address an immediate health or safety concern (with limited exceptions).
  • Activities that collect personal information from students for marketing or sales purposes, or that share student information for those purposes (with limited exceptions).

As part of enrollment, the district will notify parents of the known or expected dates for these activities. If additional surveys or activities are scheduled after the school year begins, the district will provide advance notice whenever possible.

Parents will also have the opportunity to review materials and choose whether their student participates. Students have the opportunity to participate in the following surveys:

Panorama Social-Emotional Learning: Student Supports + Environment Survey

  • Purpose of Survey: Panorama is a survey tool that helps us better understand how students are experiencing school—both academically and emotionally. It gives students a voice and helps our staff identify where additional support may be needed in school climate, culture, and relationships. These surveys are administered to 3rd-12th grade students.

  • How Results are Used: This survey helps ensure every student feels seen, heard, and supported by gathering feedback related to student experiences and then creating necessary supports across schools.
  • Dates: The survey is administered every fall (October-November) and spring (February-March) semester.

Missouri Student Survey

  • Purpose of Survey: The Missouri Student Survey (MSS) is conducted in even-numbered years to track risk behaviors of students in grades 6-12 attending public schools in Missouri. Participation in the survey is completely optional. The survey includes questions on alcohol, tobacco, and drug use and other behaviors that endanger health and safety.
    • Sample survey questions are available on the Missouri Department of Mental Health website.
  • How Results are Used: The Missouri Institute of Mental Health analyzes the survey data and summarizes the results in the MSS reports on their website.
  • Dates:  The survey is administered once every even year (2026, 2028, 2030…), typically in February and/or March

If you would like to opt your student out of one or more of the surveys listed above, please complete the following opt-out form: https://forms.gle/YMCHHXxbjix823HT6
