Distance Learning Plan

The Grandview C-4 School District will be joining school districts across the region and will close through April 24. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and area Superintendents agreed to extend the closure.

Distance Learning Plan

During this time our teachers will be working from home to lead your child's learning.  District principals and teachers will be utilizing private school Facebook groups to connect with parents and students online to provide daily lessons and activities. Please keep in mind that this process is new to everyone and may take a little time to fully implement. Teachers are working hard to adjust from their regular teaching environment to a virtual one. Teachers will be reaching out to families with additional information and to identify any technology needs you may have very soon.

Instructional Delivery Method

Grades PK-6- Teachers in grade levels PK-6 will use a variety of methods to provide instruction. By March 24th parents should receive information to join two private Facebook groups. The first group, a whole building group, will be utilized to share important information regarding the building overall. The second group, a grade-level group, will be utilized by teachers in your student's grade level to deliver videos, activities, lessons, resources, and information for student instruction. Although teachers may use a variety of other tools and resources when appropriate, this Facebook group will serve as the primary method for your student's instruction. If you have not received information for joining these groups by March 25th, please contact your student's building.

*if you do not want to use a personal Facebook account for this purpose you may want to consider creating a separate account for just this purpose.

Grades 7-8- A plan is currently being created to distribute devices to students who do not have one starting at the end of the week of March 23rd. Information on this distribution will be forthcoming. Once devices are in the hands of students teachers in grades 7-8 will use Google Classroom as the primary method for delivering instruction to students. Teachers will be providing more information soon. In addition, parents will be invited to join a private Facebook group that will be utilized to share important information on the whole building level. If you have not received information for joining this group by March 25th, please contact your student's building.

Grades 9-12- Teachers in grades 9-12 will be utilizing Google Classroom as the primary method for delivering instruction to students. Teachers will be reaching out to students with additional information via email. Students should check their district email accounts on a regular basis. In addition, parents will be invited to join a private Facebook group that will be utilized to share important information on the whole building level. If you have not received information for joining this group by March 25th, please contact your student's building.
